Spring Cooking Class Calendar 

Welcome to Milly and Romeo’s Cooking School in Koonwarra.  We want to share with you our sheer love and joy of cooking by inviting you to join one of our fun and dynamic cooking classes. Whether you are wanting to learn the forgotten art of jam making, be confident when left in charge of a saucepan, help your kids to learn the love of food or just give the most scrumptious present, Milly and Romeo’s Cooking School has a class for you!  We also do private classes and run school group programs. Our classes are designed to make the most of organic, seasonal food from local farms using simple, effective techniques and recipes. Learn the joy of cooking in our paddock to plate classrooms….

Kids Class              Friday 28th September 10am-12.30pm

This class is all about showing your keen young masterchef how to make a healthier (and often cheaper) version of your favourite fast foods!! Chicken nuggets, pizza, vegetarian sausage rolls, and a yummy sweet treat that is packed full of goodness!! Dishes the whole family can enjoy and treats for Grand Final day tomorrow!!

$50 per child

Basic Bread Class        Saturday 29th September 10.30 am – 2.30pm

In this very popular hands on class, we will be exploring sourdough bread and making our own (as well as going home with a starter) we then will make some basic loaves and look at derivatives of this as well as making some real crumpets! We make a fruit scroll and damper too!! This is a great class if you are new to bread making or would like a few more ideas now you are baking basic breads.

Kids class Pasta  –       Friday 5th October 10am-12.30pm

Pasta time!! This is always popular with our young chefs!! We will be learning how to make yummy pasta dishes. We make our own dough, noodles, lasagne sheets then we turn them into dishes the kids and the whole family will love!! They will get to eat a bowl of spaghetti bolognaise and then go home with a lasagne – We also make a gooey chocolate brownie just to top it all off !!!  Too much fun in this class

Gnocchi and Pasta Class            Saturday 13th October 10.30am-2.30pm

Do you have a pasta maker permanently stored in the cupboard? Thinking about getting one and not too sure if it is for you….In this demonstration style (with a little bit of hands on) we also make dishes that don’t require a pasta machine. We make fettuccini, ravioli, gnocchi (both traditional potato gnocchi as well as spinach & ricotta) and beautiful seasonal sauces that will become family favourites. This is also a great class to do with another family member or a friend – a great way to spend the day!

Speciality Bread                  Saturday 27th October 10.30am -3pm

In this very popular, hands-on class, we will be exploring sourdough bread and making our own (as well as going home with a starter), then will be making croissants, Danish pastries and crumpets. This is a great class if you are new to bread making or would like a few more ideas if you are already baking basic breads.

Baking Secrets     Saturday 10th November 10.30am-2.30pm

Would you like to learn more about the art of baking? Would you also like to get great results every time you do? This class will cover a wide range of beautiful traditional recipes, such as scones, biscuits, sweet and savoury pastry dishes such as lemon tart, classic quiche Lorraine and also a chicken & leek pie. Not to be forgotten, we will also make a great chocolate cake for any occasion as well as a sponge!! Maria will share her knowledge with you, so you can have beautiful results when you bake at home.

Jam Making Class        Sunday 11th November 10.30am- 3pm

This class is perfect timing because summer is almost here and we have lots of lovely fruits coming into season. This is a partial hands on class where we will prepare some fruits for jam, and even marmalade- get the pots all going, take you through bottling them and storing. This class does include a light lunch – not to be missed and you will be making your own jams right throughout summer and autumn. Then get to enjoy them all year round.                                                                                  $100 per person

Preserving class             Sunday 25th November 10.30am-3pm

In this hands on class, we are using the best of the season’s fruit – Peaches, Apricots, tomatoes & beetroot to show you how to preserve them using the Fowlers Vacola method so you can enjoy all year round! Class includes a light lunch and lots of information so you can be bottling on your own to enjoy the season’s harvest. This method can also be applied to all other stone fruits as well.

Getting Ready for Christmas – Saturday 8th December 10.30am-2.30 pm

Can you believe it? Christmas is almost here – and with a little organisation and planning you can make it stress free. Why pay for a plum pudding when you can make your own? – they are soo easy! In this demonstration style class you will learn how to glaze a ham, make your Christmas cake, plum pudding, fruit mince pies, some great finger food ideas and simple gifts to make as well. A recipe for a Christmas that you will never forget!
