Autumn Cooking Class Calendar 

Welcome to Milly and Romeo’s Cooking School in Koonwarra.  We want to share with you our sheer love and joy of cooking by inviting you to join one of our fun and dynamic cooking classes. Whether you are wanting to learn the forgotten art of jam making, be confident when left in charge of a saucepan, help your kids to learn the love of food or just give the most scrumptious present, Milly and Romeo’s Cooking School has a class for you!  We also do private classes and run school group programs. Our classes are designed to make the most of organic, seasonal food from local farms using simple, effective techniques and recipes. Learn the joy of cooking in our paddock to plate classrooms….


Baking Secrets                  Sunday 3rd March 10.30am-2.30pm

Would you like to know more about technique’s & tips for perfect baking every time? This class will cover a wide range of beautiful traditional recipes, such as scones, biscuits, pastry (we will make the most delicious pear and almond tart!) a great chocolate cake for any occasion and a classic quiche to add our savoury element! Maria will share with you her knowledge, so you can have beautiful results when you bake at home.                                                                                                             $100 per person

 Pressure Cooking Class              Saturday 30th March 10.30am -2.30pm

The amazing pressure cooker is coming back into our kitchens! You may have heard awful stories about them from the past – please don’t let that put you off exploring what you can do in them!! They take the time out of cooking and keep lots of nutrition in your food and are very versatile too. In this class Maria demonstrates the multiple uses of the age old kitchen essential. We make a soup in minutes, a Chicken, Leek and Apple Pie, Lamb and Rosemary pie with potato pastry We also will be cooking a beautiful piece of local free range corned beef and pressure roasted potatoes to go with it. All this in just a few hours and we eat it as we go!! $100 per person

Easter Treats

Friday 12th April  10am -12.30 pm 

We are going to have some messy fun with this class. Making our own marshmallow Easter eggs, yummy chocolate truffles and hot cross buns – just in time for your young chef to create some lovely Easter goodies during the holidays. We will then make some Anzac biscuits too so everyone at home can enjoy these.                                                         $50 per child


Speciality Bread Class               Saturday 13th April  10.30am -2.30pm

In this hands-on class, we will be exploring sourdough bread and making our own. (As well as going home with a starter) We then will be making croissants, Danish pastries and crumpets. This is a great class if you are new to bread making or would like a few more ideas now you are baking basic breads.          $100 per person                    

Basic Bread Class  Saturday 27th April    10.30am-2.30pm

In this very popular hands on class, we will be exploring sourdough bread and making our own loaves. Everyone will go home with their own sourdough starter too! We make our own loaves or buns and get an understanding of basic kneading. Homemade crumpets are on the menu too. With Easter not too far away, hot cross buns will be demonstrated. This is a great class if you are new to bread making.    $100 per person


Pies and Pastries            Saturday 11th May 10.30am -2.30pm

This is mainly a demonstration style class with Maria – the whole process of making pastry will be demystified – lots of questions answered and you will have the confidence to make your own pastry when you cook at home. Recipes include a classic Quiche Lorraine, lemon tart, Lamb and Rosemary Pie with a potato pastry top, French Vanilla Slice as well as a traditional Cornish Pastie.       $100 per person
