Welcome to Milly and Romeo’s Cooking School in Koonwarra. We want to share with you our sheer love and joy of cooking by inviting you to join one of our fun and dynamic cooking classes. Whether you are wanting to learn the forgotten art of jam making, be confident when left in charge of a saucepan, help your kids to learn the love of food or just give the most scrumptious present, Milly and Romeo’s Cooking School has a class for you! We also do private classes and run school group programs. Our classes are designed to make the most of organic, seasonal food from local farms using simple, effective techniques and recipes. Pressure cooking Saturday 30th June 10.30am-2.30pm
Under pressure to have food on the table that is quick, nurturing and nutritious? There are lots of horrible stories about pressure cookers are out there too!! This is a demonstration style class where we will discover multiple uses of this age old kitchen essential. We will make a soup in minutes, a chicken, leek and apple pie. Lamb pie with potato pastry is always a winner and (we make the pastry too). To finish off, we will be cooking a piece of organic corned beef with pressure roasted potatoes. All in just a few hours and we eat as we go !!

Kids class Winter warmers!! Friday 6th July 10am – 12.30pm
Winter warming food – mmm – real mac n cheese, perfect potato wedges, pizza scrolls & golden syrup dumplings ….. $50 per child
Kids class Baking secrets – Friday 13th July 10am-12.30pm
Winter is the perfect time to be in the kitchen! We are baking up a storm !! We will be making our own scones, little pastry tart with lemon curd (even making lemon curd), a classic quiche, savoury muffins – perfect for lunchboxes & a chocolate caramel slice – can we bake this much in just 2 ½ hours?? We shall see !! $50 per child
Pies & Pastries Saturday 14th July 10.30am -2.30pm
How do you create the perfect pastry? Which pastry do I use for which dish? Why does my pastry always shrink? These are all the questions that are normal and lots of people ask us and they will all be answered in this demonstration style class with Maria. You will be making your own pastry like a professional at the end – know how to store it so you can use it at a later date. Recipes include a classic Quiche Lorraine, lemon tart, Beef and Guinness pot pies, French Vanilla Slice and lots more!

Christmas in July Dinner – Saturday July 28th 6.30pm
Not to be missed!! This is a fundraising dinner for two special organisations that are very dear to our hearts – Found by the Hound and the Hannah Foundation.
Baking Secrets Saturday August 11th 10.30am- 2.30pm
Would you like to know more about technique’s & tips for perfect baking every time? This demonstration style class will cover a wide range of beautiful traditional recipes, such as scones, biscuits, pastry (we will make the most delicious lemon tart!) a great chocolate cake for any occasion and a classic quiche to add our savoury element! Maria will share with you her knowledge, so you can have beautiful results when you bake at home. $100 per person
Basic Bread Class Sunday August 26th 10.30-3pm
In this very popular hands on class, we will be exploring sourdough bread and making our own (as well as going home with a starter) we then will make some basic loaves and look at derivatives of this as well as making some real crumpets! We make a fruit scroll and damper too!! This is a great class if you are new to bread making or would like a few more ideas now you are baking basic breads. $100 per person
